JPG to PNG FAQ

Which output format does this page produce?

Uploaded JPG files are converted to PNG, and each file card offers .png only. Use this target when the image still has to be edited or exported again and again.

Does converting JPG to PNG bring back lost quality?

No. PNG stores the pixels it receives as they are, but the detail JPG discarded when the file was saved cannot be recovered. The result is usually larger than the JPG you started with.

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

No. The conversion carries over the colours already in the file, so a JPG with a white or coloured background keeps that background in the PNG.

Can I convert several JPG files at once?

Yes. Add more than one .jpg file, run the batch conversion from the bottom bar, and download the results together as a ZIP or one file at a time.

Are my JPG files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs locally in your browser, so the images stay on your device and are not sent to a conversion server.
