PNG to WebP
Re-encode PNG images as WebP for lighter web assets. Dimensions and transparent areas stay the same, and the conversion runs locally, with no upload step.
What this PNG to WebP converter does
PNG keeps every pixel, which is why screenshots, icons and exported assets end up much heavier than they need to be. This page re-encodes .png images as .webp in your browser: the picture keeps its dimensions and any transparent background, while the file usually shrinks a lot. The .webp output displays in current browsers, so it is a direct replacement for the web assets, logos and screenshots you would otherwise publish as PNG.

- 1.Add one or more .png files

PNG to WebP FAQ
What is the output for each PNG?
Every .png file is written back as a .webp file. The output selector on each file card offers .webp only, so this page exports WebP and nothing else.
How much smaller does the file get?
It depends on the picture: flat artwork, interface mockups and screenshots shrink the most, while detailed photos change less. WebP stores the same image more efficiently than PNG, and this page exports at a high quality setting with no quality slider to change.
Does a transparent background survive?
Yes. WebP carries an alpha channel just like PNG, so transparent logos, icons and cut-outs keep their transparency in the output.
Will every program open the WebP file?
Current Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge display WebP, so it works for websites and modern apps. Older desktop applications and some office suites may not read it, so keep a PNG copy when the image has to open anywhere.
Can I convert several PNG files at once?
Yes. Add multiple .png files, convert them together from the bottom bar, and download the results as a ZIP or one file at a time.
Are my PNG files uploaded anywhere?
No. The encoding runs in your browser, so the files stay on your device and are not sent to a conversion server.
