What this cover generator does

This tool creates cover images directly in your browser. Choose a background — search free photos from Unsplash, upload your own image, pick a gradient, select a pattern, or use an SVG backdrop — then add title and author text with customizable fonts, sizes, colors, and stroke or shadow effects. Switch between 30+ aspect ratio presets for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Medium, and GitHub. Export the finished cover as PNG or JPG. Uploaded images stay on your device, while Unsplash photo search runs on a limited free API quota.

Cover generator FAQ

Are my images uploaded to a server?

Uploaded background images, editing, and export all happen locally in your browser, so your files stay on your device. Browsing the Unsplash photo library does load thumbnails from Unsplash servers, but your uploaded files are not sent to any server.

What export formats are supported?

You can export the finished cover as PNG or JPG. PNG provides lossless output, while JPG lets you adjust the quality slider to control file size.

Which platforms have preset aspect ratios?

The tool includes presets for YouTube (thumbnail and banner), Twitter/X (header and post), Instagram (post, story, and reel), Facebook (post and cover), LinkedIn (post and cover), Pinterest, TikTok, Medium, GitHub, Dev.to, Substack, Hashnode, plus common ratios like 16:9, 4:3, and 1:1.

Can I use custom fonts?

The tool offers 20 font presets including system fonts, Google Fonts like Inter and Montserrat, serif fonts like Playfair Display, and decorative fonts like Pacifico and Lobster. Custom font upload is not currently supported.

Can I use free stock photos from Unsplash in my cover?

Yes. The image tab searches photos from the Unsplash library through its API. Unsplash offers a limited free request quota, so the photo grid can temporarily stop loading when the quota is used up. In that case, retry later or upload your own image, which is not affected by the quota.
