Yes. Each character — including Chinese ideographs, Japanese hiragana/katakana, Korean hangul, emoji, and accented Latin letters — is counted as exactly one character, regardless of how many bytes it occupies in UTF-8.

What platform character limits are shown?

The tool displays limits for Google Title (60), Meta Description (160), X / Twitter (280), LinkedIn Post (3,000), Instagram Caption (2,200), and SMS (160). Your text length is compared against each limit in real time.

How are emoji characters counted?

Each emoji is counted as one character. Some emoji (like family combos or flag sequences) are technically multiple Unicode code points, but the counter treats them as single visual characters for practical counting.

Can I paste text from Word or Google Docs?

Yes. You can paste text from any source — Word, Google Docs, emails, websites, or code editors. The counter strips any hidden formatting and counts only the visible characters.

How does this compare to the character count in Microsoft Word?

The counting method is equivalent. Both tools count characters including spaces. Minor differences may occur with certain Unicode characters or invisible formatting marks, but for standard text the results are identical.
